February 19, 2008 by maximillionkleeneSo…..well, I had a busy weekend in SL, as usual. 4 shows Saturday and 4 on Sunday PLUS Saturday afternoon, I went out and purchased a “Loop Station” (the BOSS RC20-XL) for my live set-up. It’s basically a piece of music gear that allows me to record my live guitar and instantly play it back the next moment so that I can play a new phrase OVER it, all live. It should be fun, but there’s a steep learning curve (at least for me) so it’ll be a little while before I’m using it.
Tonight was a blast!! I did a show at The Wild Coast and the sim maxed out at 100, but of course the downside to that is the inevitable sim crash, which happened TWICE during the hour long show. Packed sims are fun, sim crashing sucks…The audience at The Wild Coast/The Bay/The Cape is always an awesome one and it’s one of my favourite gigs. I’ll take the good with the bad.
My usual (every other) Monday night show at Muse Isle had to be cancelled so I took the opportunity to play at The Los Arboles Open Mic, which I hadn’t been back to since almost a year. So it was nice to share the stage with Rich Desoto, who is the host of the open mic as well as Yxes, and for the first time I streamed with another musician. Dolmere Talamasca, who is a musician who does solo bass shows in SL, played Bass with me on a few songs and I was in total delight. I couldn’t hear what he was playing, because I was streaming to him and then he mixed his live bass with my live stream and then streamed in to SL, but I could feel that we were doing good by the audience chat. We did When The Night Feels My Song by Bedouin Soundclash, and Down on The Corner by CCR and after that we jammed out Otis Reddings’ Stand By Me…the response was great and I can’t wait to work on some new songs with Dolmere and perhaps put together a full show. I’m excited about the prospects. Tonight was a good start, “and I believe in good starts, Brother Rabbit” -from the movie The Commitments.
